The Five Pillars of Islam (or Arkan al-Islam) are the fundamental acts of worship and the core beliefs that every Muslim follows:
1. Shahada (Faith): The declaration of faith, stating that "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger." This is the fundamental creed of Islam.
2. Salat (Prayer): Muslims are required to perform ritual prayers five times a day—at dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset, and evening.
3. Zakat (Charity): Muslims are required to give a portion of their wealth (usually 2.5% of savings) to those in need, typically annually.
4. Sawm (Fasting during Ramadan): Muslims fast from dawn until sunset during the month of Ramadan, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs.
5. Hajj (Pilgrimage): Muslims who are able must perform the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime, if financially and physically capable.
These pillars form the foundation of a Muslim's life, guiding their f
aith and actions.
